am a woodworker based in Queens, New York. My shop is a one-car garage, and although it’s small, I always find a way to make it work. I have been a professional frame maker for over 7 years, working for one of the best frame companies in New York City.
As a young kid, I remember visiting my father at work on many occasions. He was a manager at Steinway & Sons piano factory and I was amazed by all of the beautiful types of wood they would use to make the pianos. He would often bring me home scrap pieces of wood and I would go outside with a magnifying glass and burn names and images into the wood.
My love for woodworking didn’t fully develop until I was much older. I started out small with a power drill, a miter box, and a jigsaw until the hobby eventually became a passion for me. At Gurrado Woodworks, with both form and function in mind, I create useful pieces that will look beautiful for decades.
